Dried flowers have a wide variety of beautiful, secret colors. We will be using different flowers that yield a diversity of tones: marigolds (yellow), chamomile (soft yellow), hibiscus (purple), roses (soft pink).
We will also go through the basics of dyeing with natural sources, including mordants (but we will use no mordants, as the intention is to share the unaltered dyeing possibilities of these flowers).
Participants will get their materials on a first-come-first-serve basis and will need to RSVP beforehand. There will be plenty of plant dye zines and a limited amount of finished textile goods to dye for the first participants who arrive. After these samples are taken, there will be plenty of fabric yardage for the rest of the participants. Everyone is also encouraged to bring samples of fabric they might want to dye. As usual, we will have light snacks!
In the mean time, you can listen our flower inspired plays from Fragmentario Radio.
