Entrelazado en la Fábrica de Concreto
Entrelazado en la Fábrica de Concreto is an installation in a concrete factory by María Elena Pombo. With the support of Luis Madera from Advanced Transit Mix and Cornelio Quechotl Valencia from Food Story Supermarket.
It uses dead-stock silk organza dyed with avocado seeds. Recurrent materials in Pombo’s work in a technique she has defined as “entrelazado”, the Spanish word for both textile interweaving and interleaving. A technique that flirts but never commits to the idea of weaving.
Open to the public on September 19th, 2020, as part of New York Textiles Month, alongside a video showcase, it stayed in place until May 2021.
Details:
12m X 3.5m. Deadstock silk organza dyed with avocado seeds.
